3DMini: Kingdom Hearts: WAR
 Theme: 3DMini: Kingdom Hearts: WAR A fanbased competition brought to you by GameArtisans.org The Brief: WAR - The lands of Disney and Square-Enix are at war with each other and each side is looking for their finest warriors(Good and Bad alike) to fight the good fight. Give us your best 3D rendition of either a Disney or Square-Enix based character. You should try your best to convert your character of choice into the Kingdom Hearts universe and gear them for war. Contestants are not just limited to existing characters and are allowed to create a completely unique character. As always, backgrounds are optional. Pedestals are optional. Basically... everything is optional. This challenge is here for those desiring to practice their art and receive friendly advice from fellow artisans. So keep it easy, keep it quick, and keep it real. Good Luck! Please do not make a new thread for your entry. Keep all w.i.p shots in this specific thread. It's STRONGLY encouraged that you post progress images as replies this thread. We're not forcing everyone to yet, but half of the point of these minis are to help build up the community. If you're posting last minute without at least saying hello, then you're missing all the fun! Stop lurking! The Specs: - 3000 tri's - 1x512 diffuse - Optional 512 bonus maps: ANY/ALL are permitted(Normal, Spec, Gloss, Glow, Bump.... Make something pretty.) I really want to improve my low poly skill. But the deadline is right on the Chinese New Year.

This might be a stupid question, seeing as it says to "fight the good fight" but...can we make villians? I'd really like to make Ursula from the Little Mermaid, but understand if it's not allowed.

so.. just want to get this straight... is simply creating a replica of an ingame character allowed? many of them are straight out of the cartoons,brought to 3d of course, and nothing really has changed on them. Is this what is asked for in this mini? Or are we supposed to War them up? "Give us your best 3D rendition of either a Disney or Square-Enix based character" It sounds like I could take the goofy character straight from the game and create that. Correct? Not that I going to create goofy but just and example.

So even if they are already in one of the games you would still have to do a variation upon that design to gear them for war. Hope that's helpful. Good luck everyone!

I want something a bit different. I'm actually thinking about doing Pete's Dragon. maybe giving him a wooden bucket for a helmet, and a mop for a weapon, with a really "angry" look.... ooh...

I might have a go at this one, though honestly I'm not a huge fan of anime junk, so I may side with Disney. Though, I'm not sure, I just got bored with THIS so i might switch sides...

Could someone expound more about what it means to "convert your character of choice into the Kingdom Hearts universe?" It's been a long time since I played KH (and I never finished it because I hated the combat.)
I seem to recall that the Disney characters were all just really accurate and cleanly rendered characters that showed up in the world... right? So what about the Square-Enix characters? Did they all show up looking like kids the same age as Sora? Or did they look just like they did in their respective titles? Like, say if I wanted to do Rikku from FFX - do I make her really young? Do I just show her as she appeared in her game with a weapon? Sorry, just a little confused as I'm not familiar enough with the "Kingdom Hearts universe" to quite "get" the theme yet.

Walrus: Rikku appeared in KH2 as a fairy. She was half of Soras height and had roughly the same big eyes And about the same age too, pretty kkiddy. They made her skirt longer and turned her bikini top into a boob tube and she used her scarf as wings.
KH style is sorta vibrant colours with a bright contrast but i think the majority of non sqex characters have a majority of black on the them since it was a game based on light and darkness of peoples hearts. Correct me if im wrong I'm also in, gotta choose someone.
